Im writing an essay about the causes of teen alcohol abuse and am having a writers block. heres how my final body paragraph starts, and id like you guys to add your ideas. or finish it? haha thanks guys- im overloaded with other work right now and i cant get the right words to come out.

Additional sources of adolescent alcohol abuse are unpleasant feelings. Some young adults use alcohol as a coping mechanism to escape feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression. High school can intensify these feelings, and
as stated above this is my final body paragraph, not my conclusion.

Your final paragraph should be a summary or conclusion of your essay. It would be difficult to conclude an entire essay I haven’t read.
However…. How about a rewrite and try again?? Simplify and Clarify your thoughts…

High school can also intensify feelings of anxiety, depression, and stress. Some young adults use alcohol as a coping mechanism to escape these unpleasant feelings.

We are doing a report on teen drunk driving in school. If you have any information or facts please list them below
make sure its not just car accients or just about drinking. please make sure its about both.

* In 2005, more males than females ages 12-20 reported current alcohol use (28.9% vs. 27.5%), binge drinking (21.3% vs. 16.1%), and heavy drinking (7.6% vs. 4.3%).

* Young adults ages 18-22 enrolled full-time in college were more likely than their peers not enrolled full time to use alcohol in the past month, to binge drink, and to drink heavily.

* About two fifths of students (41%) have consumed alcohol (more than just a few sips) by 8th grade.

* More than half (58%) of 12th graders report having been drunk at least once in their life. One fifth (20%) of 8th graders report having been drunk at least once in their life.

* n 2005, about 10.8 million persons ages 12-20 (28.2% of this age group) reported drinking alcohol in the past month. Nearly 7.2 million (18.8%) were binge drinkers, and 2.3 million (6.0%) were heavy drinkers.

* Three out of every four students (75%) have consumed alcohol (more than just a few sips) by the end of high school.

* The rate of current alcohol use among youths ages 12-17 declined from 17.6% in 2004 to 16.5% in 2005. Youth binge drinking also declined during that period, from 11.1% to 9.9%

First off, I am against drinking & driving. But I have some thoughts on the age limit.
**US is the only country with legal drinking age at 21.( Most of us can honestly say we have drank before this age.) Most countries is18.
**Ive been looking for national statistics on DUI deaths. UScompared to UK, mexico, hong Kong, Australia, russia,ect..(age 18) I know, some of these are smaller countries, look for a %rate.
*We hear, kids are going to do what their not allowed to do.yes, I know, not ALL kids.We have MANY underage drinkers who try to hide it and end up on the roads drunk. If they are told they cant do it, they want to do it.
*I believe 18 is to young but my thought is WHAT IF they were allowed to drink at 18 again. After all, the US send our children to war, give them a gun and have them killing people. They are considered adults &taken off health plans, trailed as adults in court(get adult punishment)they are free to fend for themseves.Maybe the % of deaths would drop.
I understand that adults drink and drive too, but my question gears towards underage drinking.

The numbers may have changed mind you, but I turned in a paper on this my senior year in high school. Per capita Germany has 5 times fewer drinking and driving incidents than the U.S. This is with less tolerance for blood alcohol level.
That being said, there are other factors that need to be put in. Germany has much better public transportation, and the purchaseing age for beer and wine is 16 "hard" alcohol is 18. In Germany, however you can not get your driver’s License until you’re 19.

My son is 17 and got an under age drinking ticket in our home town in Wisconsin. I heard that he wouldn’t be able to get his drivers license until he was 21. Is this true? His ticket was also $200 more than everyone elses even though he didn’t supply the alcohol does anyone know why?

Unless he was driving while he got this underage drinking ticket, I see no problem with him getting his license.

Criminal records do not effect driving, unless they are directly involved. I.e. Driving a car into someone or drinking and driving.

Underage drinking on the street/club where ever will have no effect on your son obtaining his license.

Four North Carolina Teens Killed In Car Crash- Memorial Day weekend 2007

Four friends were killed in a high speed wreck that was so forceful it ripped out seat belts and sliced the car in half, police say.

Davidson County, NC — The wreck occurred early Saturday near Thomasville.

Robert King, 20, of Trinity; Jacob Mayo, 19, of northern Davidson County; John “Chad” Calvert, 18, of Thomasville, and Zachary Main, 18, of Kernersville, died in the wreck.

Police said alcohol was suspected in the wreck and a blood test was being conducted on the driver.

Mayo was driving a 1998 Nissan Altima which ran off both sides of Burton Road, ran a stop sign, hit a wire and then a tree, which cut the car in half, said Highway Patrol Trooper Mickey Mantel. He declined to release an estimate of the speed.

“It’s going to put a real damper on this summer and it’s going to make a lot of people reconsider what they do. It’s going to make a lot of people cautious,” says Christopher John, a friend of one of the victims.

The crash was discovered about 8:45 a.m. by a passing driver, who saw a body lying in a field

The crash happened about a hundred yards away from the Hasty Fire Department. Firefighters there say they heard a loud sound around 2 a.m. Saturday.

But it wasn’t until a driver passed by around 9 a.m. when they reported the crash. One firefighter says they thought a car went into a ditch and was able to get out.

As of late Saturday, the Highway Patrol said seven people had died in wrecks across the state during the Memorial Day weekend.

Associated Press, WFMY News 2 located in Greensboro, North Carolina- video and text from the WFMY website- wfmynews2.com.

While it is yet to be determined how and if alcohol played a role in the accident and deaths of the four teens from Davidson Couty, Casey Bokhoven was definitely a victim of a drunk driver.
Casey died March 11, 2007. While standing on a sidewalk in Winston-Salem, NC, he was hit and killed by news anchor Tolly Carr.

Laura Branigan – July 3rd 1957-August 26th 2004 In loving Memory…

“Forever Young” has become something of a pop culture standard. Originally written and recorded by Alphaville in 1984. It has been performed by numerous musical groups and in different versions and has appeared in television series, movies, and advertisements. The song plays during scenes in the television series Passions, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (episode 103: “Underage Drinking: A National Concern”), the North American version of Queer as Folk (season 1, episode 18), and One Tree Hill (season 4, episode 16). It also plays in the movie Listen to Me and during the school dance scene of the 2004 film Napoleon Dynamite. In 2006 and 2007 the song was used in advertisements for the Scandinavian banks SEB in Sweden and Nordea in Denmark. It also appeared in prom-themed advertisements for Saturn ION automobiles.

Just a year after the song’s initial release, pop singer Laura Branigan covered “Forever Young” on her 1985 album “Hold Me”. Never released as a single for Laura Branigan but became a huge favorite to her fans and she began a tradition of performing the song as an encore at her concerts. In 1996 the Canadian Eurodance group Temperance released a cover version of the song which reached number 8 on the Canadian Dance Chart. Idol 2006 contestant Sara Burnett performed “Forever Young” on the Swedish television show. Her performance qualified her for the show’s top 10 and appears on the soundtrack Det bästa från idol 2006 (The best from Idol 2006). Other artists to have covered “Forever Young” in the years since its original release include the Countdown Singers, DJ Space C, David Monte Cristo, DJ Company, Dune, BnH, Emil Wakin Chau, Fire & Ice, Interactive, Waterboy, Ella, Tune Up!, Youth Group and Axel Rudi Pell. In 2001 Swedish group Ainbusk re-wrote the song in their native language as an existential Christmas carol titled “Förevigt nu”.
